Spyderco Aqua Salt Fixed Blade
Pros: Sheath/Scabbard, Materials, Handle Material, Weight, Blade Material, None
Cons: Finish, Blade Sharpness
Excellent product
I’m a sea fisherman, and I bought this knife after much searching. I was looking for a knife with a sheath to protect the edge and a non-rusting steel that could tolerate sitting in my fishing box ready for action while being bounced around in the back of the car or boat without having to worry about it rusting. This knife ticks all the boxes.Pros, While in use the knife is soaked in salt water then put back into its sheath and tossed into the box and can remain there for days before being used again – no rust spots or marks of any kind – Wonderful! When it’s cold and wet, and your hands are covered in fish slime, the hand never fails to give a good solid grip. The steel holds a good edge once sharpened.Cons, although sharp out of the box it was not razor sharp and needed touching up to give it that edge. The handle is moulded onto the blade, so needs the flashing trimming at the middle, there were bits missed and it was rough in places. For a knife costing this much and coming from Spyderco, I would expect this to be picked up in their QA processes. What might improve this product would be to make the handle out of a buoyant and brightly coloured material, being black handle and black blade if it's dropped you’ve lost it!Overall: The cons are minor irritations if you work in or near a highly corrosive environment this knife is superb. Highly recommend
